A core inspiration of this whole verdant miasma project is the acknowledgement and support that wildness exists within us and all around us, without separation. Any perceived border is an illusion. We are as much a part of the earth as any other living being. Another creature in the constant nutrient cycles that our bodies will all descend back into, one way or another. That perspective of connection exists within many indigenous perspectives across the world.

If you were to look at our own nervous system on its own, its visual and operationally similar to a mycorrhizal network, an underground root system and the physics of lightning. It grounds our incredible minds into our meat suits like a tree into soil.

Recently, I've been spending a lot more time looking inward for a deeper and healthier relationship with myself. That looks like being more compassionate to myself while remaining accountable, regulating my nervous system when I get triggered, trying to take more breaks from addictive distractions, deconstructing childhood coping mechanisms that have outgrown their usefulness, and just continuing to truly learn more about all parts of myself.

Strengthening our relationship with ourselves is extremely important, radical work. This further liberates us from the captivity of unconscious toxic social conditioning and the grip of an extractive global civilization that keeps us tamed, divided, and addicted to profit.

Some might say it is actually the first step we have to take, since it gives us more capacity to listen and connect with our community and our environment, seeing them as inherently beautiful and unique in this fight for a better and more compassionate world for all. It is not a comfortable process at all, and the level of discomfort is different for each person, but that personal growth is guaranteed to lead to fulfilling outcomes for each individual and the community/ecosystem we are a part of.

It is hard to completely encapsulate wildness, with its borderless, ever-changing states, and its intersection with eco-defense and our inner world. I recommend the writings of Kevin Tucker and Robin Wall Kimmerer if you're interested in exploring different versions of this conceptualization further.
